Joy received her Yoga certification in 2008 after moving back to her hometown of Philadelphia from the West Coast. She immediately feel in love with the discipline and vibrant energy yoga brought to her life. Following her yoga certification Joy received her Masters in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and strongly believes in the mental health benefits that come with a regular yoga practice. Living a very healthy and active lifestyle Joy finds the healing benefits of yoga to be imperative for anyone looking to improve and maintain agility, flexibility, and strength.
Joy’s warmth invites students to participate at their individual levels making the practice unique for everyone. She emphasizes the relationship between mind and body, thus using intuition to guide each students practice. While maintaining a constant awareness of breath she encourages focus and fun on the mat. She opens the door for students to explore, reflect and honor their individual selves.
Continuing her yoga journey Joy will be receiving her certification in trauma sensitive yoga this December 2018.
When not on the mat, Joy enjoys being active and outside with her husband and two boys.
