108 Sun Salutations:
Winter Solstice Celebration
with Jana Kent-Dewald, E-RYT 200 & YACEP
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, December 21 marks the Winter Solstice. This is the shortest day and the longest night of the year. For three days over this period, the sun will rise and set at the same place on the horizon, appearing to stand still. Thus, the root of the word “solstice” – “stand still of the sun.”
Traditionally in yoga, at the change of every season, Sun Salutations (surya namaskaras) are repeated 108 times to purify the body, mind and ground ourselves for our next season in life.
Join Jana as she guides you through these foundational movements. Use this class as a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what is unwanted while welcoming new and brighter days.
